In the bustling town of Makongeni, Thika, a young boy named Jortham Gitonga emerged as a beacon of hope and inspiration through his passion for football. Born in May 2009, Jorthams journey began on the dusty streets of his neighborhood, where he kicked around makeshift balls with friends, dreaming of one day making it big in life. Jorthams early years were marked by his involvement in Angaza Community league, where he honed his skills and nurtured his love for the game. He not only played football but participated in our organized lifeskills sessions.
Through continuous participation in our activities, he developed holistically as a player under the guidance of experienced coaches and surrounded by like-minded peers, Jortham thrived to be recognized in different accordades including East Africa cup in 2022, Kenya primary school games held in Kisumu in 2023 and in 20th edition of East Africa Cup 2023, held in Moshi Tanzania which was one of the pivotal moments in Jortham’s journey representing Angaza U13 football team not only displayed exceptional skill on the field but also emerged as the best player of the tournament and helped the team to become champions in their category.
Throughout his journey, Jortham ‘s achievements were not just individual triumphs but also victories for his community and teammates. His success at the East Africa Cup brought joy and pride to the entire community in Makongeni, inspiring other young aspiring footballers to dream big and pursue their passions relentlessly. Jorthan is part of the delegation representing Angaza in Festival 24, in Lyon France from 19th to 28th July 2024. Today, Jortham stands as a shining example of our participant development pathway.
