Every individual, regardless of nationality or displacement status, deserves safety, dignity, and a fair chance to thrive. Our Grassroots Project on Refugees is designed to support urban refugees, particularly children and youth, who face trauma, exclusion, and economic hardship in underserved communities, specifically in Rongai and Kitengela. By providing education, psychosocial support, and skills training, we help displaced youth not just survive but start to rebuild their lives and find a sense of belonging.

Kenya hosts over 600,000 refugees, many of whom live in urban areas like Nairobi and lack consistent access to basic services.

How we do it

Through community partnerships and trust-building, we provide holistic, grassroots support to refugee youth, which includes:

  • Youth Empowerment & Livelihoods: We offer vocational training, business skills development, and job readiness programs tailored for refugee youth.
  • Psychosocial Support & Trauma Healing: We provide culturally sensitive mental health sessions, peer support groups, and art-based healing activities for children and teens.
  • Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion: We organize activities such as sports, dialogue forums, and cultural exchanges to foster understanding and unity between refugees and host communities.
  • Sports sessions to promote mental health and well-being, and life skills training.
