Play, Be Informed, Stay Healthy

We believe that health is fundamental to every child’s and youth’s success. Through our grassroots project on health, we focus on three interconnected health needs within vulnerable communities: Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Mental Health, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), including Menstrual hygiene management. By combining education, community engagement, and youth empowerment, we help young people lead healthy, informed, and dignified lives.

Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR)

In the communities we serve, adolescents face high rates of teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and limited access to reproductive health education and services.

Our SRHR program addresses the following:

  • Age-appropriate, culturally sensitive education on puberty, consent, contraception, and healthy relationships.
  • Creation of safe spaces for girls and boys to openly discuss reproductive health issues.
  • Facilitation of community dialogues to reduce stigma and encourage parental engagement.
  • Referral of youth to youth-friendly health services in partnership with local clinics.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention

Through this program, we promote health through personal and cultural practices that support basic social and recreational needs. This approach aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and discourage practices that harm physical and mental well-being.

Our mental health component focuses on:

  • Mental health education in schools and communities.
  • Training teachers and coaches to deliver effective psychological group therapy through a community care approach.
  • Establishing peer support groups and mentorship sessions.
  • Promoting self-expression through sports and storytelling.

Our substance abuse prevention efforts focus on methods to prevent abuse, understanding its consequences, and providing psychosocial support.

WASH & Menstrual hygiene management (MHM)

Access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education is a critical need in the communities we serve. Poor hygiene and sanitation lead to preventable diseases that disrupt education and well-being, especially for girls during menstruation.

Our WASH initiative includes:

  • Installing or upgrading toilets and handwashing stations in schools.
  • Conducting community hygiene workshops focused on handwashing, menstrual health, and safe water use.
  • Distributing reusable sanitary pads and hygiene kits.
  • Supporting school-based WASH clubs.

Our MHM toolkit includes five thematic sessions, along with an opening and closing session.

These sessions provide holistic training for children and adolescents on all essential aspects of effective menstrual hygiene management.

The thematic content includes:

  • Start / Opening
  • Puberty
  • Bursting the Myths
  • Menstruation
  • My Product / My Choice
  • True or False
  • Closing

The training sessions incorporate games and activities to make learning fun and engaging, helping to break the shame and shyness associated with menstruation. Children learn best through play!
