Employability & Entrepreneurship

In Kenya, youth make up over 75% of the population, but many face significant challenges in securing meaningful work. Despite their energy and ambition, young people, especially those in informal settlements, struggle with high unemployment rates, limited access to job- relevant skills, and few opportunities to start sustainable businesses. We believe that youth are not just job seekers; they are also job creators. Through our grassroots programs, we equip young people with the skills, confidence, and support they need to enter the workforce or launch their enterprises.

How we do it

We implement the Kick for Trade Life-Skills Curriculum, which is a fun and interactive program that leverages the power of football to help participants develop essential life skills.
This curriculum focuses on employability and entrepreneurship, equipping participants with skills relevant to various aspects of life and ultimately guiding them toward healthier and more successful futures.

The sessions are designed to be delivered by trained life-skills coaches and require minimal equipment and resources, allowing for easy implementation in different environments while promoting inclusivity.

The curriculum is divided into two sections: Employability and Entrepreneurship, each consisting of 11 sessions, corresponding to the number of players on a football team. The Employability section focuses on 11 key life skills that help young people develop the attributes necessary to gain and retain employment. The Entrepreneurship section builds on this foundation, introducing participants to an additional 11 life skills crucial for pursuing their ventures and establishing businesses or income-generating initiatives.
